I have just read "The Gangster's Cookbook" and decided to share my enjoyment with a proposed reader. The book is short but the recipes are really interesting. The book is written in the 20's or 30's, so it is not as detailed as today's recipes. Having said that, I just made "Sicilian macaroni with eggplant" and loved the results, following the recipe. I am planning on trying the "Polenta ala Toscana"Risotto for dinner tonight.
The recipes are authentic (some using chicken livers and hearts, some using "brains", which I probably won't try in my kitchen).
The family photos, Capone quotes and family references on recipe favorites makes this an enjoyable book to have in my collection.
For price, ingenuity, and enjoyment, I rate this a "five star" purchase!

A great cookbook of Italian foods with references to Capone's family and fellow gangsters!
