Gangsters at the Grand Atlantic (American Girl History Mysteries) Review

Gangsters at the Grand Atlantic (American Girl History Mysteries)

This is one of the best books that I have ever read. It is at least as good as my other favorite in this series, "The Strange Case of Baby H." It is unbelievably good. I love this series, and Sarah Masters Buckley did an excellent job on this book.
A 12-year-old girl named Emily and her 18-year-old sister Dorothy are invited to spend a week at Jersey Shore with Dorothy's friend Bitsy during the Roaring 20's. Beforehand, Emily witnesses the attack of the kindly storekeeper by two thugs, who work for "Mr. M," the evil gangster. She is excited to get away from the danger for a relaxing week at the beach.
But Emily is frightened when she thinks she sees Mr. M. at the humongous Grand Atlantic Hotel where she's staying. With her new friend Gwen, she uncovers a dangerous plot to smuggle illegal liquor into the area - and this plan also puts Dorothy in danger! Emily solves the mystery and prevents Dorothy from being killed by the thugs.
This book is so, so good. Everybody should read it!

Club Dread (Nancy Drew (All New) Girl Detective) Review

Having read the first two, I was really excited about this book and got it the day it came out. My personal favorite is the second and though this one was not quite as good as the second, it was still pretty good. The mystery was good though I did get a little tired of all the enviorment messages in it. In it's favor, I usually have the bad guys pegged by the first three chapters and this one took me a little longer. Will definatly get the next one when it's released.

They try to find out the secret she is hiding, and soon they are involved in a deep laid plot involving The Israeli Secret service and an Arab terrorist group. Using all their wits and resources Bina and her friend Tammy try to save their friend Lisa and stop the plot of the Arab terrorists before time runs out. Sammy Keyes and the Hotel Thief Review

I teach fourth grade and after I read Sammy Keyes and the hotel thief I asked one of my students to read it to see if she liked the book as much as I did. From Cecelia-10 years old: Cecelia was drawn in to the character of Sammy because she felt sympathy for her and she enjoyed the mystery. Wendlelin Van Draanen pulls Cecelia into the mystery by creating a web of obstacles for Sammy to contend with before she can solve the mystery. Cecelia believes that anyone her age would enjoy reading about Sammy Keyes and her mysteries. The action, danger, and the mystery keep her reading 160 pages in 3 quick days. Any book that is 160 pages long that can keep a ten year old interested enough to read is a great book. Cecelia and I would recommend this book to anyone ages 9 to 90.
